Labraunda
A few steps to the east of the eastern end of the Temple Terrace is a small spring house with excellent cold and clear water. Many similar, apparently ancient, spring houses have been found in the surroundings of the shrine and along the Sacred Way from Mylasa. Although it is not possible to give precise dates to such simple architectural monuments, it is probable that at least some of them go back to Hekatomnid times. It is conceivable that the spring in this location, just below the huge split rock, which is visible from far away, was the centre of the original cult at Labraunda.
